Sieben neue Start-ups bereichern die ESA BIC Hessen community, wir freuen uns schon sehr darauf, die Gründungsteams bei ihren nächsten Schritten zu unterstützen! Tatsächlich befindet sich auch schon die nächste Generation in den Startlöchern, Ende Februar findet unser nächstes TEB statt, bei dem weitere Antragssteller vor unserer Experten-Jury ihre Ideen pitchen und sich um die Aufnahme ins ESA BIC Programm bewerben werden - wir drücken allen Bewerber:innen die Daumen!

90green Solutions GmbH
90green is a Frankfurt-based GreenTech startup founded by engineer and entrepreneur Christoph Tippmann. The company develops sensor- and data-driven solutions to monitor, analyze and improve urban air quality. By combining real-time environmental data from its proprietary sensor systems with open source climate data, 90green enables cities and industrial partners to make more informed, data-driven decisions on urban sustainability and climate resilience.
In this downstream application, space data enhances the spatial and temporal resolution of local measurements by providing weather and environmental context (e.g. temperature layers, NO₂ distribution, vegetation density). This fusion delivers actionable insights and supports cities in meeting environmental targets, while also addressing pressing challenges such as heat islands and particulate pollution. Through its innovative technology, 90green aims to become a trusted partner for environmental intelligence in urban and industrial ecosystems.

The company is building a comprehensive web platform that brings together diverse monitoring data sources, including SAR images, GNSS sensors, and weather data. Using advanced machine learning techniques, SustainStruct provides a complete picture on infrastructure's current condition — empowering well-informed decisions for future maintenance.
Waldfreunde gGmbH
Waldfreunde gGmbH, based in Dreieich, Germany, is a non-profit organization dedicated to reforestation and nature conservation. Led by Jürgen and Jennifer Graf, the team unites ecological, operational, and educational expertise to mobilize municipalities, companies, and volunteers against climate change. With TerraLayer.AI, Waldfreunde is developing a digital platform that uses AI and satellite data to improve reforestation planning, execution, and scaling. The platform enables real-time area analysis, climate forecasting, and optimized planting strategies—making restoration more measurable, precise, and resilient. By combining geospatial intelligence with human, drone, and robotic planting methods, Waldfreunde creates scalable, transparent, and future-proof solutions that connect people, technology, and ecosystems for lasting climate action.
PENGUINBIO GmbH
PENGUINBIO GmbH, founded in 2024 by Dr. Peter Rappl and Desiree Schröder, is pioneering diagnostics for intestinal permeability by developing the first IVDR-compatible molecular diagnostic test directly measuring functional biomarkers for leaky gut. This innovation supports precision medicine on Earth and health in space by enabling early detection of gut-related disorders. Monitoring is vital not only for preventing acute reactions but also for managing inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn’s disease. In space, microgravity, radiation, and stress impair gut barriers, triggering inflammation and immune dysfunction. We deliver precise diagnostics for astronauts pre-, in-, and post-mission, while advancing terrestrial healthcare.
Croowy GmbH
Croowy GmbH, a privately held company registered in Germany, is revolutionizing crew and passenger accommodation management in the airline and hotel industries by integrating advanced weather forecasting directly into its established B2B platform. Led by seasoned industry experts Leonie Godard (CEO) and Svenja Büsching (COO), Croowy’s vision is to automate outdated manual processes and proactively manage disruption scenarios caused by inclement weather — a predictive capability that forms a key part of the platform’s success.

Clarity AI, founded by Boris Idesman is developing EnviroTrust - Climate Risk Intelligence: a climate risk intelligence platform for the European real estate market. They aim to provide comprehensive analyses of five core climate hazards: flood, heat, wildfire, wind damage, and air quality. Their target segments include financial institutions, insurance companies, proptech platforms and real estate investment trusts. The company's innovative approach heavily relies on space technology, specifically integrating Earth Observation datasets such as ERA5 for temperature and wind, CAMS for air quality, and EEA for flood hazards. They also use high-resolution terrain data (e.g., Copernicus Urban Atlas) and layers to deliver hyperlocal risk assessments for real estate properties.
This downstream application of space data offers significant advantages, including cost-effective data access, scalability across Europe, and continuous, timely updates due to frequent satellite coverage. EnviroTrust's proprietary algorithms process this data to generate hazard profiles and understandable, user friendly environment risk index, making complex environmental information accessible and actionable for real estate decision making.
